Hello to all,

I have recently joined this forum as it was suggested by my friend who already uses the forum. As you can probably tell, I only speak english but I am glad that I will be able to use this forum. I live in the United States (Colorado to be exact, the place with the mountains, and where the show "south park"is set) and am also a communist. I am always interested in discussing communism with anyone educated on the subject, and especially people from other countries, as they seem to always introduce new views. If you have any questions about the communist movement in the US, feel free to ask me.

Regards,
Blake Mara

Hello Blake,

Great to finally have you here.

And yes, you could tell us a little about the communist parties in the US. So far, i only know that there are not more than a hundred thousand members, loosely organized.

So, let me ask you, how is the view on "european" communism there, what does your party say in its programm? I am sure we all would be interested.

so much for now,

greetings,

Ben

What Ben asked is interesting for me, too. But I would also like to know, what the situation of publishing works by classical marxists is like. Is it possible or usual to buy them in normal bookstores? Thanks for your time.

I have asked Ben what he means by "European Communism" we don't use the term here. But as relating to the comprimse between real life, and theoretical communism. This is the most hotly debated topic in US communist parties, as I would expect it to be in europe. There really is too much debate over how much needs to be comprimised from pure theory to acheive communism in real life, so I cant answer that question if I want to represent the communists here.

The only communist party in the US that has any sway is the CPUSA (Communist Party USA) with its subdivision of the YCL (youth communist party). The most that we work on now is educating people about communism, and try to eliminate some of the propganda that the american media tatooed onto so many american's brains.

Finally, it is quite difficult to get communist works in "normal" bookstores. You can usually find "The Communist Mannifesto" and "Das Kapital" but not much else. If you are looking for more communist works, you usually need to search online.

Hello again,

Yes, there are long debates about the relation between the theory of communism and what needs to be done in a socialist country, but I dont think I am the best to answer this. Maybe one of the other users here could tell a little more about that.

Two further questions, what does the american government do against the CPUSA?, I personally have the impression that it might be very difficult for you all to do this whilst the american government has a long tradition in fighting communism all over the word...

And, does your party print its own literature or reprint the classical works for their members?

bye,

Ben

Hi, blakemara,
today a question came into my mind. Or rather, it's a specification of Ben's question, what the american government does against the CPUSA.
Are the media and the government ignoring the communist movement largely at present and declaring communism obsolete or does the media and the government reopen the propagandistic fight against communism and compare communism with terrorism after 11.09?
And does the government increase the sanctions and threats against cuba?

I hope you don't mind answering another question.
bye, Pavel

To answer Pavel's question,

The government tends to supress, rather than attack the communist movement. I did not hear any talk of terrorists being compared to communists from the media. (but I did from a few uneducated, ignorant people) The government here however does supress the communist movement as much as it possibly can. Communist organizations are not allowed to use any type of advertisememnt such as TV or billboards. The news also does not mention the communist movement, even during our largest rallies. Also threats and sanctions agaisnt Cuba have not changed recently.

And to answer Ben's other question, the CPUSA does print new essays on communism in today's global climate, but not many classical works, itself.

Hi Blake,

Zitat:
the CPUSA does print new essays on communism in today's global climate [/Quote]

Please, tell me the name of those essays or where they can be found online for i'd very much like to get to read some of them to finally get a clear view at your party's positions.

Thank you,

Ben
